This is a good leg-stretching hike with a waterfall and great chances to see wildlife. Makes a good day hike after arriving in the area before going to the serious game parks, or gives you a nice one-day warm-up before tackling Kilimanjaro or Meru on longer multi-day hikes. On a clear day, there are views of Kilimanjaro from the top altitude. The trails in this area are great for extending the trip and making it longer or even camping for a night.
The hike starts through a number of small agricultural villages with lush landscapes, where the locals sell a variety of goods such as coffee, maize, bananas, and other types of fruits and vegetables.
Upon arrival at the park* where the famous Mt. Meru waterfall is, an armed guard will escort you and your guide to see this incredible natural wonder. You will enjoy the cool waterfall mist and relax in a beautifully shaded area while taking in the sites. Be sure to bring your camera to take some breathtaking photos.
