After an early breakfast, your safari officially begins as you depart Arusha in a customized 4×4 safari vehicle and travel toward Tarangire National Park, approximately a two to three-hour drive away. The journey itself offers beautiful views of rural Tanzania, Maasai villages, and rolling countryside, providing a wonderful introduction to the country’s diverse landscapes.

Upon entering Tarangire National Park, you’ll immediately notice its iconic baobab trees, some of which are believed to be hundreds of years old. These magnificent trees dominate the landscape and create one of the most distinctive environments in East Africa. Tarangire is also famous for its impressive elephant population, with large family herds often gathering near the Tarangire River, especially during the dry season.

Your first game drive takes you through a variety of habitats, including open grasslands, acacia woodlands, wetlands, and riverbanks. Today is one of the highlights of your Tanzanian safari. After an early breakfast at your lodge, you’ll descend approximately 600 meters (2,000 feet) into the magnificent Ngorongoro Crater, one of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife destinations.
